flat yorkshires !

me yorkshire puds have ended up as pancakes.
used plain flour/oven at hottest
result thick pancakes!
ideas as to why?
usually rise quite well

Well bless me!
Good awld dairyless Yorkshire puds were a resounding success!!
In actual fact, I would actally swear they are bigger, lighter and crispier than the lactate variety!

Had some probs with coffee but take it black, Turkish style, now.
Wonder if the Turks make something similar to Yorkshire puddings?

Never been asked that one IMOR, so am not sure.
Having been a research and development chef you would have thought I would have known that one! lol

EBV = Equal By Volume of flour, milk, eggs, makes a very rich batter but it will always rise really well.

Common problem for lots of people Eileen! From the detail that you have provided, my guess would be that your mixture was probably too thick or the flour you used could be old??
Lots of ways and lots of so-called tips for success, however, if you remember to:
1. use very fresh ingredients (plain flour, eggs, cold milk and iced water)
2. keep the mixture very cold until needed
3. mixture just thick enough to coat the back of a spoon
4. heat your fat until it is smoking
5. quickly pour in no more than 2 tablespoons of batter into each muffin tin
5. don't open the oven door until ready
You shouldn't go far wrong.......
PS. try adding a tablespoon or so of finely diced onion to the batter as well. These are an excellent accompaniment to roast chicken!! Yummy!
