Heard a great story this weekend! I found out why the Po Sang has gone from nice Chinese take-out to the worst in the world.

The woman who owns it has opened up another restaurant on the Isle of Man/ Wight (not sure which) and spends most of her time there.
So she has hired a someone to run the Ilkley restaurant, and take care of the many teenagers that they employ. As it turns out this person likes a drink and would regularly not turn up therefore leaving three 14 year lads to run the restaurant. By run I mean cook the food, serve the customers, take the money, clean up and pay their own wages!

I kid you not (get it)!! They we're rumbled when a teacher of one of the boys saw him in chef whites and asked him if he was the only one in the kitchen. Not wanting to lie to his teacher he said yes! Teacher calls police, police call parents! Not sure what is going to happen to the Po Sang, although someone told me today that it's been shut down, but that's not confirmed.

What's great about this story is the kids did everything they were suppose to. They could have sacked it off, messed around, had free food, got drunk and nicked money from the till. But instead they did everything right. Good on the kids for holding the fort.

I don't know what the police have done about it and I've not heard anything in the news about it. If anyone has any more info then post it up.

Worde on de streetz is that the PoSang is being refurbished by popular local cultivator...oops I mean contractor; Rod Bridgeford of Paradon Developments.

It's poor. Stopped going some years ago. Ilkley could do with a decent Chinese Restaurant however. (Bistro Saigon is the closest I suppose, and excellent)

Teacher calls police

I bet the 14 year old's were learning far more working at Po Sings than they do at school! They may fail their GCSE Maths because of it, and have to struggle through life with only a practical and tested knowledge of handling cash, balancing an account, portioning quantities, working with percentages, ratios and timing (both split and inclusive) and dealing with people.

Whereas if they concentrated really hard at school they could learn about coz, sin and tan, the rules in relation to the hypotenuse, and the joys of quadratic equations; and still fail their GCSE because that is only designed to keep psychotic maths teachers with maths degrees (and autism, obviously) in paid employment.

We like The Lemon Tree for take out but yea, nowhere decent for eating in.

For a good sit down Chinese I recommend Oriental City in Leeds. Great dim sum at lunchtime. Bit of a treck though.
