I work for a company based in Ilkley and I have just had a phone call from someone claiming to be from BT...

They told me they had sent several reminders for an outstanding balance and unless payment was made immediately they would cut the phone line....


I know we are up to date and refused to make a payment over the phone. At this point she called me rude, so I asked for her name at which point she hung up....

I have phoned BT myself and confirmed there is no outstanding debt.

This is obviously a scam to make you panic and provide credit card details...

BE AWARE

Same thing happened to me, I typed the number into whocallsme and it came up as a firm claiming to chase debts for BT. When they rang me claiming I owed money to BT I asked for my BT account number as verification they were BT and the person became quite stroppy and ended the call.
