Amanda of the Gazette is keen to run the story of the Uncut Fringe so I am starting a new thread about it.

I have a Pie & Priestley show on 13th Sept. and me and my pie will be selling tickets in Ilkley for the next few weekends, so you can talk to me in person, pm me or just ask questions or make suggestions here.

I only have one certain show (Curry & Kipling 8th Oct.) but at least 2 probables and 2 possibles so far.

I will mention this thread to Amanda and would be happy for it to be the main net focus; but I will keep a low key page on my own site, from where the below comes (link at bottom).

I have a show, what should I do?

Sort the show. Find a venue (I can make suggestions) for around the first fortnight in October and book it (the basic Edinburgh Fringe principle). As it is wholly your show you can charge for tickets, have a whip round, or let folk in for free.

As long as you tell me about your show you can use the logo, and I will include you in my publicity. All I ask is that you try and avoid clashes with other Uncut Fringe events, that you help publicise those other events, and support them if you can.

I am not looking to make masses of unpaid work for myself or create a new festival; but I can offer help and advice, and if it works well enough to happen again it will add colour, variety and opportunity to an already brilliant fortnight.

There is less than no money in this fringe! But we can help each other; share costs for posters &c, or simply use the logo on our own stuff.

7.00. Riverside Hotel. Ilkley. Celebrate National Poetry Day & the nation’s favourite poet with food from the land of his birth. Glyn Watkins brings his Rudyard Kipling show back to Ilkley. Tickets from www,bradwan.co.uk or Ilkley Pets, Leeds Rd.

International Ilkley Moor Baht ’at Day. Sat 10 Oct.

12.00 to 2.00. White Wells. UK Hat Throwing Championship. Entry by ticket, available on the day for a modest charge. All hats must arrive on a human head, be suitable for a chapel, unlikely to damage heather or paintwork, and be biodegradable in case of loss on Ilkley Moor. No plastic hats allowed, or metal parts (whether in a bowler or not).

4.00 Baptist Church, Kings Rd. LS29 9AD. Of Hats and Hymns The story of the song and the hymn it came from. Everyone gets a chance to practise singing both.

5.00 Ilkley Bandstand. Public performance of the song and hymn.

We suggest ending with a duck supper.

7.30. Midland Hotel. Ilkley. Railway author Mark Neale launches a calendar based on his best seller Along Familiar Lines. With local railway tales, stories, picture and poetry. With support.

Being the Uncut Fringe, does one wait till after the perfomances before having one's seasonal shearing? Or is one allowed to come shorn? I'd hate to come partialy dressed for the perfomances.
