I'm sorry. I'm sure you all like being very nice and all that. But this just confirms to me that this bloke has just thought that slapping his name all over the local forums is a quick and easy way to advertise his business. It's not. It's a quick way to be labelled as a spamming $*&^

On usenet, this would have been the point that he would have gone in the killfile as a spammer.

Okay stand by what you've said, but if someone makes a genuine mistake I think it should be taken as that. Likewise if I want to support local business I see nought against that. However if they try to make out they are something they are not, much like a chap darn sarth who thinks everyone loves PM, then I'm up their with you mr moosehead.

Look i didn't want this to cause any kind of arguement. The idea was to help people get their fencing or railing done to a good standard and costs cheaper than bigger fabrication business. This is not for adverisement it's to let people know that there is a local fabrications business just down the road from them.

If he'd come on and answered three or four different threads with 'and come to ADD Fab', THAT would be spamming. COming on and announcing your new business is, well, announcing your new business. There's nothing wrong with it. Much better than those who come on, never having posted before, and put up a fake review of, say, India (the restaurant) without mentioning their connection.

Nobody jumped on that pleasant lass who worked so hard at Hide when she came on, there's no difference.

EDIT: to second/third the killfile, though one or two posters might no longer get any response (me included probably)

The adfad dude is upfront, I like that, it's not good nettiquette or whatever you call it and maybe upstages dudes that pay for banner ads to promote their businesses on here, but it's better than some of the laughable attempts to promote businesses by new users in the past that claimed to be customers but clearly weren't.

Adfab, some advice from another who was once a young thruster.

Put an ad in Ben Rhydding post office window. For 50p a week, you will reap more reward than ads that cost 100 fold that amount in the local papers.
