Spain v Holland

I hadn't intended to watch any of the footie, but there was nowt else on the TV. Surprised by the quality of the match. Excellent stuff. Van Persie's header was one of the highlights for me.

What have people made of the TV (& radio) coverage so far?

I've found both ITV & the BBC's coverage generally abysmal. (I don't have Sky - so no idea what's that like).

Little in the way of proper analysis, too many ex-footballers (some of whom can barely string a sentence together) pontificating on the merits of this or that footballer.

I've tried listening to a radio commentary, with the sound turned down on the telly, to see if that would improve things, but the radio hasn't been much better.

The BBC & ITV could have saved a fortune by having their studios & various pundits back in the UK, there's been little point shipping them all out to Brazil.

But then we would have missed out on the highlight of the tournament which had to be Adrian Chiles in his very very tight shorts, plimsolls and white ankle socks.

I had Germany down to win - but by the odd goal, the bookies couldn't split them before the game either.

What a shocking night for the hosts, but what performance by the Germans. Amazing

Argentina 0 v Germany 1

I thought it was a fair result, both sides had chances, excellent goal by Mario Gotze, really glad it wasn't decided by penalties.

Only about three weeks to wait until domestic football kicks off again!

Thoroughly entertaining competition all round, think Germany deserved to win it. It all got a bit tight and less open in the knock out stages but still decent.

Not convinced Messi was the player of the tournament tbh.

Yep roll on the new season. 33 days and counting.
