The builders are apparently departing, the windows on every corridor and pavillion are being boarded and the admin roof is that damaged by water ingress that its in danger of collapsing effecting the clock tower structure.

on the trail of archive images I have managed to find a few including the original build negtives.

laundry fire late 1970's

These are just a few of the old stuff there are shed loads more of these old pictures on http://www.highroydshospital.co.uk

As ever Silverstealth, great photos.

Two questions if i may:

a) are you saying that the builders are leaving the site because of the decline in the housing market (ie no point building 'em if we can't sell 'em at the moment)?

b) Is the place now a lot more "locked down" than it was, are you still able to get in and take photos/explore?

My understanding is that the down-turn in the housing market has stalled development at High-Royds. I guess this means that the developer can only be bothered to build them if he can charge top whack.

I wonder if anyone has some pics of Scalebor Park before they converted some of it to des-res Townie houses. There was some good woodwork in there before they let the rain in.

well I have enough material now to create a book, the problem is I don't even think I have touched the surface..

have a look at my other stuff if you have time, www.silverstealth.co.uk I recently went to Ireland to photograph a few locations including a Magdalen Laundry in Cork.
