QUOTE:
I think drugs are very bad.
Treat cannabis as a normal recreational drug and harder stuff is bound to follow. A small but significant proportion of ilkley peole are snorting coke and there are several people openly dealing in the pubs
Lets face it when your under 18 any drugs are probably likely to have a detrimental effect on your development. And whilst over this age they might not do you any favours, it is impossible to legislate against such things.
At present the media is whipped up into a self-rightous storm about cannabis classification. Taking a balaced view of the subject there can only be two standpoints that carry any weight
1-A total ban on ALL drugs - Alcohol, tobbaco ( both substantively more damaging to society and individuals than ALL Class A, B and C drugs put together)
2 - Total legalization / tolerance of drugs, taxed, regulated and associated educational programs from the resulting income generated.
It has already been shown that the 1st approach (with just the classed drugs, but also alcohol during the prohibition era) is highly damaging to socety (since Misuse of drugs Act 1974). Our current apprach generates MASSIVE revenues for organised crime, put users in contact with people selling more damaging substances and also adulterated substances such as soapbar, which is probably what the student got a kicking for.
About time people started to grow up and take a more reasoned approach toward such matters, instead of this right wing moralistic BS that Nulab keep spouting. Mind you old Dave has his head so far up his Ar*e that it looks like more of the same.
Ah, well spark up a fatty and let these clowns get on with it.
